Michener Art Museum
In the heart of Bucks County, the Michener Art Museum houses the finest collection anywhere of Pennsylvania Impressionist painters.
Edward Redfield, Fern Coppedge, Daniel Garber and other artiss are well represented — including Garber’s magnificent mural, A Wooded Watershed, which was rescued and placed here.
Visitors will find a room filled with the powerfully organic forms of furniture by George Nakashima, the pioneering woodworker who lived and worked in Bucks County.
The Michener mounts regular shows of paintings, photography and other kinds of art, often with a regional connection.

The Michener Art Museum opened in 1988 on the site of the former Bucks County prison. The stone walls and the warden’s house make up the museum’s core.
The museum is named for bestselling author James Michener, a Doylestown native, who first envisioned the museum.
The museum offers a variety of programs and workshops, including gallery tours, artist studio visits and musical performances.
The walled, lush “backyard” features the Patricia D. Pfundt Sculpture Garden, where sculptures pay homage to the Bucks County landscape. The garden is free and open to the public.
The museum also has a terrace, a shop and a cafe.
